The Steps to a Successful Renovation

When our recent clients were ready to take on a whole home renovation for their Rehoboth beach house, our team was able to help them feel in control of the project with our proven, step-by-step process.
The Design: We began as we do with any project by learning more about our clients’ needs for their space.
In this case, the homeowners were looking for a complete main floor overhaul, including opening up the interior to create a larger living room and piano area, remodeling the kitchen, and updating the main bedroom.
They also asked that we install new decking outside and add a screened porch for a more functional transition space.
To help come up with the perfect design plan, our clients entered into a four-phase Design Services Agreement, allowing us to fully engage our team of designers, estimators, engineers and selection professionals.
Together, they explored the project’s feasibility; developed a series of design renderings and architectural and construction drawings; worked through the selection process to ensure accurate bidding; and developed an accurate cost estimate for every phase of the design process.
The Selections: As a full-service design company, our team offers a range of interior design services to help you select each of the finishes in your new space. We begin by providing our clients with detailed spreadsheets of all the selections required for the project. Then, during a series of design meetings, we’ll provide expert guidance through each of these decisions with the help of a design inspiration packet, samples, catalogs, and more.
To help our Rehoboth Beach clients create a cohesive look throughout their main floor and stick with their preferred traditional style with modern accents, we spent a lot of time with them in the selection process.
Ultimately, they chose stainless steel appliances, fixtures, and hardware for the kitchen and a lovely sand-toned decking to blend with their beachfront views.
For the bathroom, a slightly warmer brushed satin finish was chosen for their fixtures.
Beautiful wood flooring will be installed throughout the home, with a herringbone pattern feature in the dining room.
For the tile, they preferred mixed neutrals with some grey tones to add to the overall calming, beachy feel of the space.
The Contract: Depending on the size and scope of your project, we are glad to offer two types of contracts: Fixed Cost, which is ideal for smaller or more well-defined projects, or Cost-Plus, which works well for larger projects with potential unknowns. We’ll be sure to sit down and walk you through the options to ensure you feel comfortable signing on the dotted line.
The Production Process: Once your project goes to contract, we’ll schedule a pre-construction meeting where you can meet your dedicated production manager, project manager, and selections coordinator. Together you’ll review the process moving forward, go over the schedule, and get a crash course in our online project management software, which will help keep you in the loop with daily updates, feedback opportunities, and more. On-site meetings, regular phone updates, and more will ensure that you are completely happy with everything happening on the job site.
